Q.  Which items may I purchase online?

A.  Click the "Shop" or "PierceMartin for You" links to view all items available for purchase online.

Q.  What is the difference between the "Product Line" and "Shop" tabs?

A.  The "Shop" and "PierceMartin for You" tabs allow you to view only the items that may be purchased online.  The "Product Line" tab allows you to view our entire collection of items, including those which are only available to the trade in our showrooms and through our representatives.

Q.  Why are some items not available for purchase online?

A.  Some of our products offer options that require the professional expertise of an interior designer or architect.  Additionally some items require a freight service or a blanket-wrapped moving service to be delivered.

Q.  What is "To the Trade"?

A.  "To the Trade" means that some of our items are available exclusively through architects and interior designers (members of the design trade).  PierceMartin has a long history as a To the Trade Professional Design Resource.  PierceMartin To the Trade items may be viewed and purchased in our showrooms when accompanied by an interior designer.

Q.  What is "PM4U"?

A.  Items with "PM4U" (PierceMartin For You) in their description are part of an exclusive selection of limited-production items which are available only through the PierceMartin.com website.  PM4U items are not available through our To the Trade showrooms.

Q.  Can your wicker and rattan be left outside?

A.  We recommend choosing our ALLWEATHER line of synthetic wicker furnishings for outdoor applications.  The powder-coated aluminum frames, synthetic wicker, and EZ DRI cushions hold up better against the elements.  Many of our clients choose to use our natural wicker and rattan items on their covered porches, when the items will not receive direct sun or precipitation.  While these installations are often successful, such use is highly dependent upon the climate and individual space; Outdoor use will likely shorten the life of your item, therefore we only suggest indoor use of our natural material products.

Q.  What is the difference between wicker, rattan, and bamboo?

A.  Wicker is a general term for a product which is produced by weaving materials into each other, resulting in a new form that is greater than the sum of its parts.  Wicker is traditionally woven from natural materials such as peeled rattan, bamboo, or grasses.  More recently, wicker also includes weaving synthetic materials to create products that are more resilient to full exposure to outside environments - for instance, our ALLWEATHER items.  Rattan is a vine, or climbing palm of the genus Calamus.  Rattan is naturally solid, composed of many fibers which run the length of the vine.  Bamboo is a woody, treelike grass that is a member of one of the genera Bambusa, Phyllostachys, or Dendrocalamus.  Bamboo is naturally hollow; our items that refer to solid bamboo have had the ends of the poles filled or capped.

Q.  How "Green" are the PierceMartin products that I am purchasing?

A.  PierceMartin has always created fine furnishings using sustainable wicker, rattan, bamboo, raffia, and pandan.  We have also been using water-based finishes, as they have become more reliable and available, to reduce or eliminate the VOCs of traditional finishes.  Our ALLWEATHER line of furnishings are constructed of aluminum frames, and polyethylene synthetic wicker; both of which may be recycled at their end of use.

Take, for instance, our Bamboo Luau Fabric.  Bamboo is the fastest growing woody plant in the world-which is part of the reason that is considered such a Green resource.  PierceMartin President and Creative Director Chip Cheatham has created/developed Luau, an upholstery weight fabric made of 100% bamboo fibers.  The result is a beautiful, soft and durable textile that is kind to the environment.

Q.  What is Luau fabric?

A.  Luau is an upholstery-weight textile constructed of 100% bamboo fibers.  Developed by Chip Cheatham, Luau is as soft as it is environmentally friendly.

Q.  How long does upholstery and finishing take (lead time)?

A.  In-stock items that do not require upholstery and are purchased in their standard finish usually ship within two business days of being purchased.  In-stock items that require upholstery or the application of a finish require 6-8 weeks for finishing and upholstery work to be completed.  Professionals using COM and working through our To the Trade showrooms should allow 6-8 weeks from our receipt of deposit and COM.

Q.  Where may I find your MSRP Guide?

Q.  Of what materials are your cushions composed?

A.  PierceMartin uses only the highest quality materials for use in upholstery.  Our foam is manufactured free of CFC's and is harmless to the Earth's ozone.  Our standard seat cushions and fitted back filling is Poly-Dacron, which is a core of super-soft polyurethane foam wrapped with a think layer of 100% polyester fibers.  Premium spring down seat cushions are encased in Polyurethane foam placed into a down proof ticking, channeled with a mixture of 50% polyester fibers and 50% 10/90 down & feathers. Our throw pillows are a 75/25 feather/down combination.  Our standard ALLWEATHER seat cushions are composed of our quick-draining and quick-drying EZ-DRI foam, which provides a firm seat.  We also offer, for select items, our premium ALLWEATHER EZ-SPRING seat cushion.  EZ-SPRING cushions are composed of galvanized springs that are wrapped in our EZ-DRI foam, and provide a softer seat which is similar in experience to spring down.

Q.  Are there production variations between same items?

A.  Our products are constructed by hand from natural materials, and therefore may exhibit some variations in size and color.  These variations make each piece unique; and while we strive to keep them to a minimum, the variations are to be appreciated as identifying characteristics - much like the freckles or eye color of a loved-one.  As we see fit, PierceMartin reserves the right to make modifications to designs or to discontinue certain styles and/or finishes without notice.

Q.  What is PierceMartin's Return Policy?

A.  PierceMartin takes great pride in creating the highest quality products. Due to the nature of our online site, and the products listed, PierceMartin has a strict NO RETURN policy for any product. Images and descriptions on this site have been represented to the best of our ability and are considered to be sufficient portrayals of the products that we sell.
